And so it was on to our next pitch; driving Delta is still a stressful experience at times, especially on unknown roads along with road rules that are still new to us…..also Delta has a tail swing that can knock a line of cars over like bowling pins!
We arrived at the Living Forest Campsite just outside of Nanaimo and were thrilled with our pitch looking out over the tidal mudflats. We still had some unpacking and setting up to do and also laundry, so while Elizabeth did that Warwick booked more RV campsites, put hooks up, set up the new outdoor chairs, table and propane grill. While we ate dinner we watched a seal stunning fish by slapping his tail on the water surface, Bald Eagles soaring above us and bunnies running around our feet….just incredible.
Next we spent a couple of nights pitched up at a campsite in the forest, unfortunately it was cold and rained all but two hours we were there but in those two hours we went for a trail walk that led us to a beautiful river where we enjoyed some time watching the swallows catching bugs off the waters surface.
At another pitch, Salmon Point, we were Oceanside looking out across the Strait of Georgia, we had the most incredible view. Here we spent our time learning how to use our new binoculars viewing bald eagles, seals and humpback whales (far in the distance but still amazing)… Elizabeth also learnt that looking through the binoculars out to sea makes her seasick!
