Harvest Host

Instead of booking at a normal full hook up campsite we decided to book a one night pitch at a Harvest Host; Harvest Hosts are Wineries, Breweries, Farms & Attractions that invite RVers to stay overnight on their land with no camping fees, there is no “hook up” so we were completely off grid…. exciting!

Coastal Black is a winery, blueberry and honey farm. We had a great pitch with a lovely view across the farms fields. As “payment/reimbursement” for staying on the Harvest Hosts land RVers are encouraged to make a purchase from their hosts. After a tasting flight of ciders, wine and mead needless to say we made many purchases and stocked up on cider, sparkling wine, mead, honey and frozen blueberries!

As for living “off grid” we were happy with our test run….we survived one night well without being hooked up to water, electricity and sewer. We had more than enough water in our fresh water tank and our grey and black tanks had more than enough space for our dirty water. This is good news as we had booked a 3 night stay in a provincial park in a few days time with no hookup!
