Smithers and Witset

Back on Highway 16 we were headed North again through increasingly more beautiful scenery and we spent four nights camping in different locations around Smithers and Witset.

Our first night was a little remote, we were the only campers in a very small and “interesting” town and we were camped at a mushroom farm, with a lovely host, yet we didn’t have the most relaxed or good night’s sleep to say the least. To many unknowns……

We did spend some time in Smithers which is a great little town; we visited the farmers market (an absolute must!), a fantastic museum full of really interesting local information and found good coffee; Warwick even found a barber and got a great haircut…..wins all round!

We then camped at Witset on the other side of Smithers and watched salmon leaping from the river, it was the beginning of the salmon run season. Needless to say as soon as we stopped filming a fisherman caught a leaping salmon! It was here that we learnt that we cannot leave Delta’s awning out if we are going to be away from her….a storm picked up while we were watching the salmon and we were very lucky to still have the awning attached when we returned!
