Saskatchewan

We left Drumheller and Alberta behind and continued our journey East along the Trans Canada Highway into Saskatchewan. We had planned just two overnight stops in Saskatchewan, both at Harvest Hosts.

Our first Harvest Host was a local fruit winery, we arrived just before a spectacular sunset. We purchased a couple of bottles of delicious fruit wine and enjoyed the sunset. Our second Harvest Host was an equine therapy centre where there were horses and donkeys of all sizes to pet and we were again treated to another beautiful sunset.

Saskatchewan is know for being flat, as we crossed the border from Alberta we were prepared for “the flat”, but instead we were fascinated by the changing landscape, the Prairies are not flat and they are stunningly beautiful. However the deeper we headed into Saskatchewan the views became flatter and flatter and then it got very flat! And very windy! The road stretched out before us, the skies were huge and poor Delta was buffeted by fierce side winds the whole way. While the prairies were beautiful the endless flat that came after became slightly monotonous and it was hard driving with the wind.
