On 8th June we collected Delta, our RV, and it was a steep learning curve! After some “intense” driving experiences and quickly learning we really have to plan ahead with parking and road junctions we started to love RV life!
Delta is a perfect fit for us as first time RV-ers, she’s big enough for us to have plenty of interior space but not too big for manoeuvrability (once we had learnt how to manoeuvre her!). Driving in and around Vancouver city was not so much fun but once out on the more open roads with less traffic we settled into our new way of life quickly. After a week of “setting up” (so many purchases needed!), we took the ferry from Tsawwassen Vancouver to Schwaz Bay on Vancouver Island and it was a smooth journey with beautiful scenery.
We settled into our RV pitch on a campsite just outside of Victoria and treated ourselves to a pub dinner…. Canadian portions are huge! Thursday we caught a bus into Victoria, and walked along the main dock and saw the seaplanes. We spent a couple of hours touring through the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia building (it’s really beautiful & very interesting), we then had a lovely lunch on the dock front before walking down to Beacon Hill park and looked out across the sea to America. Friday we drive to the Butchart gardens and they were absolutely stunning, amazing, so beautiful. We spent about 5hrs there walking through all the different gardens, there was too much take in, we really enjoyed it.
